More ways to show up

Choose the lane that matches your time, not a volunteer archetype.

One path gets people on-site immediately. The other explains the longer leadership track and what happens after someone applies.

Rolling note

Block Captain applications are reviewed on a rolling basis. The next cohort orientation is in July 2026.

Leadership path

Become a Block Captain

Block Captains are the backbone of GFF. You live in your neighborhood, coordinate your Hub, and build the relationships that make weekly distributions run. Stipend of $250/month covered by donors.

  • Must live in the neighborhood you serve
  • Commit to at least 10 hours per week
  • Applications reviewed on a rolling basis

What to expect

$250/month stipend backed by donors and tied to one neighborhood.

This stays place-based on purpose: GFF wants leaders who already know the block they serve.

03

Application flow

What happens after you apply

Applications are reviewed by your regional Hub Steward within 5 business days. If you're a strong match, you'll get a 30-minute call and a start date within two weeks.

What to expect

Local review within five business days, then a short call and start date.

The routing is meant to be fast, human, and local instead of form-heavy and slow.
